Two Ewu Students Receive Trust Scholarships

Holly Boggs Haupt and Terry Schultz, both of Spokane, were each awarded a $1,000 Wittenbach Trust Scholarship at Eastern Washington University. The scholarship is given to meritorious students majoring in health care programs.

Haupt is a 1991 graduate of Mead High School and a junior majoring in dental hygiene. She is the daughter of Wendy and James Boggs, Spokane.

Schultz, a 1991 graduate of Ferris High School, is a senior majoring in human biology/ physical therapy. He is the son of Peggy and Monty Schultz.

Wes Olin, Spokane, is among 25 of Burlington Northern Railroad’s 31,000 employees selected as 1994 Chairman Award winners for the quality of their work and the professional way in which they conduct themselves, both on and off the job.

“Wes has exhibited initiative, job knowledge and positive attitude and is always willing to help get things done,” said Gerald Grinsein, BN’s chairman and chief executive officer.

Olin began with BN in 1966 working in Spokane’s railroad car shop.

The winners were recognized at a Feb. 2 awards banquet in Fort Worth, Texas.

Brett Armitage, Coeur d’Alene, has made the dean’s list at Boise State University. He earned a 4.0 for the fall semester and is a senior majoring in accounting.

Joan Forni and Pauline Bresnahan were named Distinguished Teachers for the second quarter of the 1994-95 school year by the Spokane School District area directors.

Forni is an extended day kindergarten teacher at Stevens Elementary; Bresnahan is a library media specialist at Moran Prairie Elementary.

Last month’s Fourth Annual Easter Seal Dart Tournament at the Sheraton-Spokane Hotel raised $12,638.37 with 68 teams participating.

The top fund-raisers were: IEDA, $1,913.12; Litz Pointers, $410; and Ray’s Bochica, $361.

Winners of the Top Tournament were: Systems Amusement, first place; The Desert Rates, second place; and Steve’s Sports Dugout, third place.

Winners of the Top Consolation were: Airx, first place; Gatlin Guns, second place; and Quad City Crickets, third place.

The Best Dressed Team was Motorworks.

The Spokane or Bust Bullseye Road Trippers Award was given to Ray’s Bohica, of West Richland.
