Traffic Accidents Kill Two

From Staff Reports

(For the record Friday, February 17, 1995): A story on page B3 of Tuesday’s Spokesman-Review titled, “Traffic accidents kill two,” was wrong on two points. Clarence Green, who died in a traffic accident Sunday, was 59 and driving someone else’s car.

Two men were killed Sunday in traffic accidents in Lincoln County and Spokane, authorities said.

Clarence Green, 41, of Colville, died Sunday evening at Deaconess Medical Center in Spokane after a onecar rollover at state highways 21 and 174 west of Wilbur.

Green was driving his 1986 Nissan station wagon south on Highway 21 when he lost control and rolled into a ditch, according to the Washington State Patrol.

His passenger, Shirley Lesser, 34, of Keller, was taken to Lincoln Hospital in Davenport, where she was treated and released, a nursing supervisor said.

Green wasn’t wearing his seat belt, but Lesser was, the WSP said.

A man who died Sunday morning after his car collided with another vehicle in northwest Spokane was identified Monday as Osburn, Idaho, resident David Douglass, 45.

Douglass was driving a Ford Festiva that crossed the center line of Nine Mile Road and struck a Chevrolet Suburban, said Spokane police Cpl. Tom Sahlberg.

The driver of the Suburban and his son were treated at Holy Family Hospital and released.
