Inmate Admits Slashing Coe

From Staff And Wire Reports

A Washington State Penitentiary inmate has pleaded guilty to slashing the throat of his fellow prisoner, Spokane South Hill rapist Kevin Coe.

Although Timothy Cannon, 27, was judged mentally competent to stand trial, Walla Walla County Superior Court Judge Donald Schacht ordered him to undergo a mental evaluation before sentencing.

Cannon pleaded guilty to first-degree assault Tuesday in the April 1994 attack on Coe.

Coe’s neck and lip were sliced with a homemade knife fashioned from a razor blade and a toothbrush in a day room at the penitentiary. It took about 100 stitches to close the wounds.
