Tourney Wins Lift Republic, St. George’s

The District 7-B boys basketball field is complete with the addition of Republic and St. George’s.

Republic and St. George’s won Panorama League Tournament games at Kettle Falls on Wednesday, filling out the eight-team district that begins Monday at Spokane Falls Community College.

St. George’s and Republic play tonight for the third and fourth seeds to district. Curlew and Northwest Christian meet in the Panorama title game on Friday. Sprague-Harrington, Almira/Coulee-Hartline, Wilbur-Creston and Davenport are the Bi-County League’s district representatives. All still must play for seeding.

Republic 50, Springdale 32

Mark Rickard scored 20 and John Kuchenmeister’s nine points led a 28-12 second half as the Tigers (14-9) ousted the Chargers (11-12).

St. George’s 78, Inchelium 47

Jason Ala scored nine points during a 25-8 third quarter as the Dragons (15-8) eliminated the Hornets (5-17).

St. George’s made 13 of 14 free throws in the first half. Shawn Christianson of Inchelium had three 3-pointers and 14 points in the first half then battled foul trouble.
