Black Colleges Asked To Play Down Freaknik

Presidents and chancellors of 137 historically black colleges are being urged to discourage students from coming to this year’s Freaknik festival.

A letter to college administrators from presidents of the six Atlanta University Center schools, which are also mostly black, said the city can no longer handle the three-day party.

Freaknik attracted 200,000 participants last year, bringing trash, traffic and headaches to town.
