Historic Awards

Each year, the Eastern Washington State Historical Society honors residential, commercial and public projects that enhance historic structures.

This year’s winners received their awards Thursday night. They included:

Fotheringham House, W2128 Second, whose owners, Graham and Jackie Johnson, carefully re-created authentic exterior details.

Fire Station No. 9, S804 Monroe, whose owners, Nancy Croyle and Susan Dellwo of Design Source Inc., maintained the building’s exterior integrity while adapting its interior to commercial use.

The U.S. Post Office, W904 Riverside, for sensitive restoration, particularly in the U.S. Bankruptcy Courtroom.

The Columbia County Courthouse in Dayton, a landmark restoration project, both inside and out, that any community could be proud of,” according to Larry Schoonover, the historical society’s deputy director for programs.
