Clinton Pays Tribute To Former Senator

Compiled From Wire Services

President Clinton paid tribute to former Sen. J. William Fulbright on Friday as a man who “stood against the 20th century’s most destructive forces and fought to advance its brightest hopes.”

“He lived with passion, tempered by reason. He loved politics, but cautioned against the arrogance of power,” Clinton said in a eulogy at Fulbright’s funeral in the majestic Washington National Cathedral.

Fulbright died last week.

Clinton spoke before a cathedral filled with Fulbright’s family, friends and admirers.
