“Feeding Winter Birds In The Pacific Northwest,” By Bob Waldon (Mountaineers-Books, $14.95).

The world would be much friendlier to birds if everyone who fed birds would read this book. The book includes an excellent discourse on the ethics of feeding and the responsibilities a feeder must assume if the feeding is to be beneficial to the birds.

A wide variety of feeds, feeders and feeding techniques are discussed along with the natural history and feeding habits of common birds. Waldon also gives ideas to assure your birds aren’t lured in only to be killed by cats or other predators.
