Gunman Robs Woman In Parking Lot At Shadle

From Staff And Wire Reports

An unidentified man with a handgun robbed a woman in the parking lot of a North Side shopping center Friday afternoon.

The victim told police she was walking to her car in the Shadle Center on West Wellesley about 5:30 p.m. when a man walked up behind her, police spokesman Dick Cottam reported.

The robber pulled out a large handgun and demanded the woman’s purse, Cottam said. The woman handed over her wallet, then the man told her to go back into the shopping center. As she did, the victim said, she saw a car speed away.

The robber was described as in his late 20s to early 30s, between 5 feet 8 and 5 feet 11, with a heavy build. He had blond hair and wore a short black jacket.

The woman was not injured.
