Postgame Shooting Kills Illinois High School Star

Associated Press

A high school basketball star was fatally wounded in the head in an apparently random shooting as he was driving away from his school after a game, authorities said Sunday.

Moshe Rogers, 17, a senior and co-captain of the basketball team at Aurora Central Catholic High School, was shot late Friday night after returning from a game at Lansing, police said.

Rogers was pronounced dead Saturday night at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood.

Police don’t know why someone would shoot at Rogers, nor did they know who fired the fatal bullet, police Sgt. Greg Anderson said.

`It’s just a random type of thing, it’s just senseless,” Aurora Central coach Don Holler said. “You just end up asking yourself, `Why?”’
