The House Revenue and Taxation Committee agreed to introduce a bill Monday that would exempt Idaho ski resorts from paying state sales tax on new equipment.
Russ Westerberg of the Idaho Ski Areas Association said ski resorts must invest in costly equipment in order to stay competitive and it’s only fair they be treated the same as other industries that already enjoy the exemption.
“It’s a little different from a health club or a movie theater in terms of investment cost,” said Westerberg. The bill will return to the committee for further consideration before moving to the House floor.
