Festival Stage Proposal To Be Topic

The Festival at Sandpoint will be host of a town meeting tonight to hear public input on its proposed 10,000-square-foot stage over the Pend Oreille River.

The meeting is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Community Hall.

Festival organizers set up the forum to answer questions about their use of Memorial Field for summer concerts. Some neighbors have complained about traffic and noise from the concerts and fear a new stage only will add to the problems.

About 200 residents recently signed a petition and requested the city hold its own public hearing on the proposed stage. The city’s hearing is set for March 9 at 5:30 p.m. in the Community Hall.
