Doyle, Castlegar Overpower Braves

Todd Doyle scored three goals Wednesday night as Castlegar shut out the Spokane Braves 4-0 in the opener of the KIJHL division playoff series in Castlegar, British Columbia.

The best-of-seven series will resume Saturday night at Castlegar. The third and fourth games will be played in Spokane at 2 p.m. Sunday and at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

The Braves won six of their last nine regular-season games to reach the playoffs. Goaltender Brian Power played every game in the last month and is the club’s rookie of the year, coach George Talotti said.

The KIJHL Most Valuable Player is Braves scoring leader Darin Talotti. Defenseman Sam Chementi made the all-league second team.
