Staff Reports

George “Rick” Weetman, 42, of Wallace died in Seattle Tuesday after losing a year’s battle with cancer.

“He’ll be severely missed by all the people in law enforcement in Shoshone County,” said Nelson Morris, Shoshone County chief deputy.

The former police chief of Wallace moved to the Silver Valley in 1975 for a job as patrolman with the city. He moved to the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Department in 1989 and was soon promoted from deputy to corporal.

Weetman is survived by his wife, Rochelle, two sons, 8 and 11, and a daughter, 21.

A vigil service will be held at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Wallace at 7 p.m. Friday. A mass service will take place Saturday at 10 a.m. Arrangements are being handled by Shoshone Funeral Services.
