Siamese Twin Dies Month After Separation

Compiled From Wire Services

Almost a month to the day since she was surgically separated from her sister, a two-year-old girl from Pakistan died Wednesday.

Nida Jamal died of cardiac arrest at Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children, the hospital said in a statement.

The girls had been joined at the head since birth. Nida had remained in critical condition since the surgery separating her from her sister, Hira, on Jan. 23. She never fully regained consciousness and doctors said she suffered brain damage during the 16-hour surgery.
