Mother Charged With Killing Son

A woman was charged Thursday with murdering one of her sons and trying to kill the other by dropping them from a bridge into the Los Angeles River.

Donna Jean Fleming, 23, jumped in herself Tuesday after allegedly throwing the boys off the 50-foot-high bridge. She was pulled out by a rescue boat with minor injuries.

Craig Fleming, 22 months, drowned. Michael Robert Fleming Jr., 3, was in hospitalized in serious condition.

Mrs. Fleming was being held without bail in the jail ward at Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center, where she was undergoing a psychiatric evaluation.
