Portland Wins 12th Straight At Home

Canaan Chatman scored 21 points and Portland held on to defeat San Diego 63-61 Thursday in the West Coast Conference.

Curt Ranta had 11 points and 12 rebounds as the Pilots (9-4, 18-7) won their 12 consecutive home game.

San Diego (5-8, 10-14) made an 8-0 run to close Portland’s lead to 62-61 with 56 seconds left.

Ranta hit one of two free throws with 26 seconds left and the Pilots led 63-61.

Doug Harris’ 3-pointer with five seconds went off the rim and the ball went out of bounds to Portland with one second remaining.
