Cda Office To Lose Taxpayer Assistance

From Staff And Wire Reports

The Internal Revenue Service will end taxpayer assistance at its office here after the April 17 federal tax filing deadline.

Beginning Monday until April 17, the office will take walk-in appointments only on Mondays at 1221 Ironwood Drive, Suite 104.

After April 17, taxpayers will need to drive to the Spokane IRS office at 920 West Riverside. The Coeur d’Alene office will remain open for appointments with examination and collection officers.

North Idaho taxpayers will be well-served by the Spokane office after this filing season, said Jerry Heschel, Boise District director.

“The IRS is undertaking a large and complex effort to create a government that works better and costs less,” Heschel said. “This change is a step in that direction and we realize we need the community’s support to make this transition.”

The staffer who handles taxpayer assistance visits in Coeur d’Alene will be transferred to the Spokane office, Heschel said.
