Judges Become Ill From Tainted Mail

Compiled From Wire Services

Two judges fell ill after receiving envelopes containing an unidentified reddish brown powder, police said Friday.

Judges Betty Stanton and Barbara Panepinto were treated for minor allergic reactions to their hands, police spokesman Sgt. James Coleman said.

The envelopes, which also held computer paper, were sent to the judges at Kings County Family Court and had no return address.
