Journey Of Faith Sponsors Needed

Agencies resettling refugees in Spokane need volunteers to gather household items and furniture, help refugees practice English and drive them to appointments.

People with more time can be sponsors. Sponsorship involves acquainting a refugee family with every aspect of American life: from banking to shopping to schools. Sponsors spend from 15 to 40 hours a week for eight to 12 weeks with the family, and usually stay in touch for a full year.

Russians now arriving in Spokane usually have relatives here, but they also need American sponsors. For more information, call World Relief at 484-9829 or Catholic Family Service at 533-2076.
