Woman, Baby Found Dead; Husband Sought

A young mother and her baby daughter were found dead Sunday in their apartment, and investigators were seeking the woman’s husband for questioning.

A neighbor reported the grisly discovery Sunday morning. The neighbor went to check on the woman after she failed to show up for an appointment, said Pierce County sheriff’s Lt. Richard Rice.

Officers found the 21-year-old woman’s body in her bed. Her neck was slashed. The woman’s 9-monthold daughter was found dead in her crib. It was unclear how she died.

Detectives were searching for the woman’s 26-year-old husband, who works at Fort Lewis.

Names of the victims were not immediately released.
