Americans Flag Down Chiefs In Ot

Seldom have the Spokane Chiefs felt more outnumbered on the ice.

The Tri-City Americans defeated Spokane 3-2 in overtime Saturday after tying the game on a disputed play with 13 seconds left.

On the Americans’ tying goal, Western Hockey League scoring leader Daymond Langkow took an assist from Brent Ascroft, who was replacing Brian Boucher. Boucher was apparently still on the ice, giving Tri-City (19-16-3) an illegal extra man.

Terry Ryan, who also assisted on the tying goal, scored the game-winner 58 seconds into OT.

The Chiefs (10-25-1) are winless in their final 12 road games.

Jeremy Stasiuk and Jason Podollan scored for the Chiefs. Spokane’s John Cirjak had two assists.
