New Faces:

Garry Pierce and William Coats have joined BDO Seidman as bank operations review specialist. Pierce has more than 29 years of experience in professional banking, including stints as vice president and manager, Spokane Audit Group, U.S. Bancorp and vice president and general auditor of operations with Old National Bank. Coats has 22 years of professional banking experience. Prior to joining BDO, has was with U.S. Bancorp and Old National Bank.

Don Gray joins Century West Engineering as the Spokane environmental manager. Gray will be responsible for marketing and project management. He previously worked for Environmental Science and Engineering and Woodward-Clyde Consultants.

Joanie Fish, a 10-year real estate veteran, has joined Windermere Real Estate’s Post Falls office as a sales associate. Fish, who earned the relocation specialist designation, has practiced real estate in Coeur d’Alene for three years, with ERA and Coldwell Banker.

David Fair, has joined Johnson Matthey’s Electronics Division as general manager of The Alta Group, Pittsburgh, Pa. Fair will be responsible for overseeing all Alta Group operations, including sales and marketing, research and development and manufacturing. He was formerly business manager of the Electronic Materials Division of Olin Corp.

Century 21 Premier Service has added the following licensed real estate agents to its staff: Ed Ashley, Paul Brunton, Connie Caruso, Rene Fagan, Lew Hemmert, Terry Koentopp, Bill Stewart, Cheryl Wandowicz, Don Young, and Larry Zagelow.

Dr. Elie Francis, has joined the Spokane VA Medical Center as staff psychiatrist. Francis transferred to the Spokane VAMC from James A. Haley VA Hospital in Florida where he was chief of the alcohol and drug abuse treatment program for more than 4 years.

Moving Up:

The Spokane Teachers Credit Union has promoted JoAnn Allen to vice president of human resources and Denise Gabel to vice president of marketing. Both Allen and Gabel previously acted as directors of their departments.

Kelly Dowd has been promoted to property administrator of Kiemle & Hagood Company. Dowd joined the company in August 1993 as an account assistant.

LeMaster & Daniels has promoted the following employees to seniors:

Shelley Boucher, a staff accountant involved with the Accounting and Auditing Department in the Spokane office who joined the firm last year.

Tyler Kopet, who joined the firm in 1992 and works as a staff accountant in the Accounting and Auditing Department.

Terrie Schucht, a staff accountant in the Health Care Department since 1992.

Douglas TerHark, also a staff accountant in the Health Care Department since 1992.

Kristen Walker, a staff accountant in the Accounting and Auditing Department since 1992.

Julie Thornton Wilson, who joined the firm in 1993 as a staff accountant in the Health Care Department.

Douglas Evenson, Spokane division credit manager for SAFECO, has been promoted to division assistant vice president of SAFECO Credit Co., a subsidiary of Seattle-based SAFECO Corp. Evenson, a graduate of Portland University, joined SAFECO in 1980 as division credit manager in the Spokane Division.

Kurt Yerak has been named manager of human resources at The Guardian’s western regional office in Spokane. Yerak will oversee staffing, employee relations and management development, as well as compensation, affirmative action and benefits administration.

Starting Up:

Post Street Financial has opened a facility at N1235 Post. Headed by Richard (Rick) A. Nelson, the firm represents The Guardian Life Insurance Co. locally. Post Street Financial offers insurance, investment products and other financial services.

Elected:

Sue Miller of Divcon Inc. has been elected 1995 president of the Inland Pacific Chapter of Associated Builders & Contractors, Inc. (ABC). Other officers installed for 1995 are: John Young, Polin Construction, Coeur d’Alene, president-elect; Gene Harder, McFarland & Alton, treasurer; and Steve Drummond, Richter-Wimberley P.S., treasurer.

Bev Numbers was elected secretary of the Association of Washington Cities. Other north central Washington AWC board members are MayorJoyce Stewart of Chelan and MayorRod Hartman of Coulee Dam.

Goodwill Industries of the Inland Northwest elected new officers: Marcea Mandsager, US West Communications, chairperson; James Hawley, Kiemle & Hagood, vicechairman; Richard Williams, Kaiser Aluminum & Chemical Corp., Trentwood, secretary. New board members include: Charles Romberg, John “Jack” Snead, Timothy Miller, and James Calderhead.

James Walesby, an Almira wheat producer, will serve a second term as chairman of the Washington Wheat Commission. James Moore and Karl Felgenhauer were elected vice chairman and secretary-treasurer, respectively. Jack Silzel has joined the commission and will represent Whitman County wheat producers on the board.

Robert Bosworth of Bonners Ferry was recently elected vice-president of the Society of American Foresters, the Professional Organization of Foresters in the United States. Bosworth, who has been a member of the Society of American Foresters since 1967, will serve as vice-president in 1994 and president in 1995.

Appointed:

Dave Siegley of Selah, Wash., was appointed to Group Health Northwest’s board of directors representing the Central Washington region. Siegley, a retired vice-president/manager of First Interstate Bank of Washington, has been active in Group Health Northwest consumer governance since 1989. He also was appointed vice-chair of Group Health Northwest’s Central Washington Consumer Council.

Kudos:

Cavanaugh’s Inns has renewed its Cavanaugh’s Cares Program, which provides $100,000 in accommodations for needy families of patients under emergency hospital care. Cavanaugh’s Cares already has donated more than $300,000 in free lodging and will provide an estimated 1,500 to 2,000 complimentary room nights through 1995.

George Gee Pontiac of Spokane has earned its 10th consecutive Pontiac Master Dealer award. The Masters Award is based on a comprehensive factory evaluation which includes sale accomplishment, financial stability, and continuing education, but weighs heavily on targeted customer satisfaction surveys.
