Police Bust Ring Of Antiques Thieves
Police cracked an international ring of thieves that stole more than 2,000 priceless Pharaonic and Islamic pieces and replaced them with copies, a newspaper reported Sunday.
The al-Ahram newspaper said four Egyptian businessmen were arrested and freed on $3,000 bail each. The newspaper did not identify them.
Three foreigners, including an archaeology expert, have also been identified by police. Authorities want to extradite them to Egypt, al-Ahram said. Their nationalities were not immediately released.
