Survivors Improve After Wreck Of Tourist Bus Headed To Shrine

Associated Press

Thirteen U.S. tourists remained hospitalized Sunday, a day after three Arizona women died when the double-decker tour bus they were riding in flipped over on a slippery highway north of Barcelona.

Five planned to leave hospitals Sunday and more were to be released over the next few days, Consulate spokeswoman Elena Pujol said. The injured all were “evolving favorably,” she said.

The bus was taking the 43-person group to a religious shrine in France when it swerved and flipped Saturday.

Clyde Howard of the U.S. Consulate in Barcelona identified the dead as Florence Hoskins, 81, of Mesa, Ariz.; and Elise Saint, 63, and Joan Ryan, 62, both of Phoenix.
