Substance Abuse Council Awards Top Volunteers

Thea Carter was recently honored as Volunteer of the Year for the Greater Spokane Substance Abuse Council.

Other volunteers who achieved awards were:

Tim Anderson as Driving Under the Influence Victims Panel Speaker of the Year and Ed Neunherz as DUI Victims Panel Volunteer of the Year.

Also honored were volunteers and supporters from Spokane County DUI Victims Panel, CARTA For Sober and Safe Driving, Deaconess Chemical Dependency Unit, Law Enforcement, DUI Task Force Members, Mothers Against Drunk Driving and GSSAC Board Members.

The following Eastern Washington University students have received Indian Education Program Scholarships in the amount of $1,500 each.

Charlene Rae Abrahamson, , Spokane, recently transferred from the University of LondonGoldsmith to EWU, where she is a junior majoring in psychology. She is a 1978 graduate of Mount Edgecumse (Alaska) High School

Allen Hammond, son of Bernice Laramie, Inchelium, Wash., is a junior majoring in recreation management.

Raina Joy Peone, 20, Springdale, Wash., is the daughter of Gracia and Richard Peone, Ford, Wash., and a 1992 graduate of Mary Walker High School, Springdale. She is a junior majoring in applied psychology.
