Court Upholds Life Sentence For Tribe

A serious crime justifies a tough prison sentence, the Idaho Court of Appeals says.

The court on Tuesday unanimously upheld the life prison term, with no possibility of parole, for Charles Frank Tribe in an Ada County murder.

Tribe was twice convicted of murder for the beating-torture death of his wife, Diane, in 1986. A previous sentence was overturned by the Idaho Supreme Court. After retrial and second conviction, the Court of Appeals ruled the sentence was appropriate for a crime described by the judge as “the most egregious case I have ever seen in terms of brutality, in terms of the violence that was inflicted, the physical intimidation, unrelenting and unmitigating.”
