Man Stabbed In Fight Downtown

One man was stabbed several times during a fight in downtown Spokane early Tuesday, police said.

Michael Hasting, 30, of Spokane, was in satisfactory condition Tuesday night at Deaconess Medical Center.

Police arrested Michael Kowzan, 20, of Burbank, Calif., and charged him with first-degree assault.

The fight began about 1:15 a.m. near First and Madison, said Sgt. David McGovern. Hasting was stabbed in the side and back and staggered into The Coach House, W1107 First, where someone called 911.

Police arrested Kowzan near First and Jefferson. An 8-inch knife was on the ground nearby, McGovern said.
