Montana 90, Rice 81 (2OT)

Shawn Samuelson scored 18 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead the Grizzlies to a double overtime win over the Owls in Missoula.

The Grizzlies (8-4) trailed 25-24 at halftime and were down by as many as 11 points in the second half.

Montana trailed 61-58 with 1.8 seconds left in regulation when Chris Spoja sent it into overtime with a 35-foot 3-pointer at the buzzer.

Rice (4-5), of the Southwest Athletic Conference, got it’s own buzzer-beater at the end of the first overtime when Tommy McGee nailed a trey to knot the game at 71.

In the second overtime, Montana got seven points from Spoja and five from Samuelson to put the game away.

Portland 100, E. Oregon 58

Canaan Chatman’s game-high 24 points led the Pilots to a win over the Mountaineers in Portland.

Center Curt Ranta added 18 points, 10 in the second half, and had a game-high nine rebounds for Portland (8-3).

Tracey Corta led Eastern Oregon (2-6) with 11 points.
