North Idaho At Colorado Northwestern

North Idaho College (1-3 Scenic West Athletic Conference, 9-7 overall) resumes Region 18 play at Colorado Northwestern (0-3, 3-9) at 6:30 p.m. PST in Rangely. On Saturday, the Cardinals visit College of Eastern Utah (2-1, 13-2) in Price.

NIC’s women (1-3, 5-8) visit CNCC (0-3, 2-8) tonight and CEU (2-1, 13-2) on Saturday.

At a glance

The Card men are on a modest three-game winning streak with a great chance to make it four against the short, struggling Spartans. NIC coach Rolly Williams always frets over trips to Rangely, where the Spartans can be ornery on hot shooting nights. Spartans forward James Barnett averages 15 points. CEU appears to have returned to SWAC prominence after a down year in 1993-94. Wings Rosell Ellis (19.5 points) and Kenny Pratt (18.1) lead the Eagles. Freshman center Eddie Washington patrols the paint.

NIC’s women could climb back into the race with a sweep. CEU has a glossy record, but its SWAC wins are over struggling Treasure Valley and Colorado Northwestern. NIC reserves Cami Moffat and Becky Russell have left the team.
