Yakima Lawyer New Magistrate

Lonny R. Suko, of Yakima, will succeed U.S. Magistrate James B. Hovis when Hovis retires later this year.

Suko takes over the position in Yakima in August, said Chief Judge Justin Quackenbush in a press release. Suko will stay in private law practice until then.

Suko served as a part-time magistrate in Yakima for the Eastern District of Washington from 1971 through 1991. He has practiced law with the firm Lyon, Weigand, Suko and Gustafson since 1969.
