If You Go To Big Mountain

Big Mountain Ski and Summer Resort is located 8 miles north of Whitefish, which is 16 miles north of Kalispell, Montana. The resort is a four- to five-hour drive from Spokane.

Air service from Spokane is available from Delta; Big Mountain and the airline offer special roundtrip air fare, lodging and lift ticket packages. (800) 858-5439.

Whitefish Area Rapid Transit runs a shuttle bus service from Whitefish locations to Big Mountain six times a day. Schedule information is available at local and mountain lodges.

Hours of operation:

Big Mountain operates daily from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Night skiing is offered Wednesday through Sunday from 4:30 to 10 p.m.

Lift tickets:

The regular day lift ticket rate for adults is $35. Seniors (62+) and juniors (13-18) are $27, children 7-12 are $19, and college students are $30. Children 6 and under ski free.

Discounted multiple-day ticket packages are available upon request.

Day rates in the Value Season (Jan. 2 through Jan. 22 and April 3 to April 16) are $25 for adults, seniors and juniors, and $17 for children.

Late arrival (1 to 4:30 p.m.) ticket rates are $28 for adults, $22 for seniors and juniors, and $15 for children.

Night skiing is open Wednesday through Sunday, 4:30 to 10 p.m.. Eight beginner and intermediate runs are lighted and serviced by three lifts. A night ticket is $10 for everyone; no charge for children 6 and under. Any day lift ticket allows skiers to continue skiing on the lighted runs until closing.

Skiers may use the platter lift and Chair Six at no charge at all times. These two lifts service the beginner areas.
