Sentinel Takes Title In Wrestling Tourney

Vince Stone (115 pounds), Ryan Presta (129) and Jeremy Presta (135) won titles Saturday as Sentinel of Missoula won the 12-team Pacific Northwest Classic at University.

Sentinel scored 143 points to the 118 of second-place and defending champion Mead. Othello was third with 81.5 points.

Mead had as many individual champions as Sentinel, with Lyle Beerbohm (122), Troy Hughes (178) and Justin O’Connor (190) leading the Panthers.

Central Valley finished in sixth place, but had titles from Rick Giampietri (158) and Bob Perkes (275). Scott Jones (101) and defending State AAA champion Dave Herzog (168) won titles for fourth-place Davis of Yakima. The host Titans, competing without state champs Andy and Dusty Roberts, took fifth behind the title of Scott Garcia (148). Gonzaga Prep’s Cory Brannon won at 108.

Quinn Sharp (101) and Jeremy Thornton (135) of West Valley won championships at the W.F. West Invitational in Chehalis - both pinning Centralia wrestlers named Lopez in the second round.

Sharp pinned John Lopez at 3:24. Thornton pinned Steve Lopez at 3:10.
