Gingrich’s Mom: ‘What’s All The Fuss?’

Associated Press

Kathleen Gingrich doesn’t understand why such a fuss was made over her son’s description of the first lady.

But Mrs. Gingrich called Connie Chung “two-faced” for getting her to repeat the remark by her son, House Speaker Newt Gingrich, and then broadcasting it. She made the latest comments on the syndicated TV news magazine “American Journal.”

Chung asked Mrs. Gingrich to whisper what her son thought of Hillary Rodham Clinton and that it would be “just between you and me.” CBS aired the remark Thursday as part of an interview.

About her son’s remark, Mrs. Gingrich asked, “What’s all the fuss about? Because I said she is a bitch?”

“I asked, ‘What is she like?’ He said, ‘Mother, she’s a bitch,”’ Mrs. Gingrich said.

The “American Journal” interview will air Monday.

Gingrich has not denied he made the comment. Nonetheless, Mrs. Clinton has invited the Gingriches to the White House. Gingrich has accepted the offer but a date was not set.
