Snl’s Hartman Gets Own Series

From Wire Reports

Shock of shocks: A guest on a late-night talk show (Phil Hartman on Wednesday’s “Late Show With David Letterman”) actually revealed some news about himself. The “Saturday Night Live” alumnus, Clinton-impersonator extraordinaire said he will star in a new NBC series this fall.

It’s been known that Hartman had a “development” deal with NBC but now he’s supplied the details. The show will be called “NewsRadio” (NBC says it’s a working title), about the staff of - what else? - a radio station. It also stars the rather amusing Dave Foley (“Kids in the Hall”).

Hartman added that the network was committed to about a halfdozen episodes and that it already has a fall pickup. Hmmm. A bit o’ wishful thinking? Not necessarily. NBC confirms that the pilot has been shot, and critics might get a look at it soon.

Super Dave series

Just in case you missed it, Super Dave Osborne, the stunt man’s stunt man, launched his own halfhour situation comedy, “Super Dave’s Vegas Spectacular,” Saturday night on the USA Network.

In the series, Super Dave is the owner of a Las Vegas hotel, where each week he attempts a neverbefore-seen stunt that’s not quite as difficult and complicated as his daily life.

It’s classic Super Dave comedy, with a slow-burn buildup culminating in the daredevil’s spectacular, grinding destruction.
