Police Find Pot Plants At Crime Site

First, his home was burglarized. Then police officers found more than a dozen pot plants during the course of their investigation.

Police now plan to seek manufacturing marijuana charges against a Pullman man whenever he shows up at the house.

Police initially were called to 1615 NE Wheatland Drive on Tuesday afternoon after a former roommate went by to pick up mail and found the front door unlocked and several doors kicked in, said Sgt. Chris Tennant.

While looking through the house, Officer Jake Opgenorth found 14 pot plants “in various stages of growth and harvest,” as well as grow lights and scales, Tennant said.

Police seized the evidence and plan to contact the resident of the house upon his return home. If the suspect is a student at WSU, that could be in several days when students return for the start of classes Monday.

While he declined to release the suspect’s name, Tennant said he is a young man in his early 20s.

Meanwhile, said Tennant, police have no suspects in the burglary.
