Colleen Becker Sprague, Wash.

Service for Colleen June Becker, 67, is planned for 11 a.m. Friday at the Community Church in Sprague. Burial will be at Macabee Cemetery. Danekas Funeral Home in Ritzville is in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Becker died Monday. She was born in Sprague and received her teaching certificate at Eastern Washington University.

She taught school in Odessa, Wash., for 31 years before retiring in 1980. She then returned to Sprague.

She was a member of the Sprague Community Church and the Order of Eastern Star.

Survivors include numerous cousins.

Paul Beckett Pullman

Service for Paul Louis Beckett, 81, is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Kimball Funeral Home in Pullman. A private burial will be at the Pullman City Cemetery.

Mr. Beckett, who died Monday, was born in Warren County, Ill. He graduated from Monmouth (Ill.) College, received a master’s degree from the University of Illinois and a doctorate from the University of California.

He moved to Pullman in 1947 to work as a political science professor at Washington State University. He retired in 1977.

Mr. Beckett was active in professional associations nationally and regionally.

Survivors include his wife, Harriett Beckett; a son, Paul Beckett of Madison, Wis.; a daughter, Linda Yost of Moscow, Idaho; a brother, Elmer Beckett of Hillsboro, Ore.; and three grandsons.

George Stachofsky Loon Lake, Wash.

Funeral Mass for George A. Stachofsky, 77, will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. HennesseySmith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Stachofsky died Monday. Born in Culbertson, Mont., he moved to Spokane in 1925 and began working for the S.P. & S. Railroad. He retired from Burlington Northern Railroad in 1974 and moved to Loon Lake in 1975.

Survivors include two sons, Robert Stachofsky of Veradale and Edwin Stack (Stachofsky) of Spokane; a brother, Wilbert Stachofsky of Chewelah, Wash.; a sister, Mary Thatcher of Roseville, Calif.; six grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren.

Memorial gifts may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.

Evelyn Holum Spokane

Memorial service for Evelyn Mildred Holum, 84, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Central Lutheran Church in Spokane.

Mrs. Holum died Monday. Born in Fingal, N.D., she moved to Spokane in 1939. She worked in a high school cafeteria, was housemother in a nursing school and sold encyclopedias.

She was a 50-year member of Central Lutheran Church.

Her husband, Ed Holum, died in 1994. Survivors include four sons, Lee Holum of Birmingham, Ala., John Holum of Seattle, David Holum of Kalispell, Mont., and Everett Holum of Tacoma; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to Central Lutheran Church.

Irene Weitze Colfax, Wash.

No service is planned for Irene Weitze, 67, at her request. Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Weitze died Monday. She was born in Colfax and graduated from Washington State University.

In 1950 she moved to Spokane and worked for The Crescent. In 1968 she returned to Colfax and operated an antique store.

In 1985 she became editor for the Colfax Daily Bulletin and in 1993 she retired.

Survivors include a son, Eric Allen Weitze of Colfax; a brother, Reginald Wood of Oak Harbor, Wash.; and two nephews.

Memorials gifts may be made to the Colfax Volunteer Fire Department or to the American Cancer Society.

Richard ‘Oly’ Olson Spokane

Memorial service for Richard E. “Oly” Olson, 58, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Fairmont Memorial Park. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Olson, who died Saturday, was born in Philadelphia, Pa.

He served in the Marine Corps from June 1955 to June 1978, retiring as gunnery sergeant.

Mr. Olson moved to Spokane 10 years ago.

Survivors include his wife, Sandy Olson; a daughter, Stacy Daniels of Airway Heights; two sons, Richard Olson of McMinnville, Ore., and Phil Olson of Newberg, Ore.; a sister, Carol Vaughan of San Francisco; and one grandchild.

Virginia Denenny Spokane

A private service is planned for Virginia Denenny, 79. HennesseySmith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Denenny, who died last Thursday, was born in St. Cloud, Minn., and moved to Spokane in 1945.

She was a homemaker.

Her husband, Raymond Denenny, died in 1991.

Survivors include two sons, Barney Denenny of Boise and Harry Denenny of Post Falls; and four grandchildren.

Ingolf ‘John’ Sandwick Spokane

Memorial service for Ingolf “John” Sandwick, 83, is scheduled for 2 p.m. today at the O’Malley Apartments, E707 Mission. Private burial will be at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Sandwick died Saturday. Born in Bellingham, he moved to Spokane 30 years ago.

There are no surviving family members.

Lois Lyman Spokane

Service for Lois J. Lyman, 69, will be at 1 p.m. today at Fairmount Memorial Park. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Lyman, who died Sunday, was born in Yakima and moved to Spokane as a child.

She attended Kinman Business University and worked as a dental technician for Peerless Dentist.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Lynn Lyman; two daughters, Linda Drake of Chattaroy and Becky Sobosky of Spokane; a son, Larry Lyman of Colbert; a brother, Dr. Leo Lindenbauer of Spokane; two sisters, Phillis Lyman and Mary Apitz, both of Spokane; and nine grandchildren.

Shirley Dale Rosalia

Memorial service for Shirley Dale, 59, is planned for 2 p.m. today at the Rosalia United Methodist Church followed by burial at the I.O.O.F. Evergreen Cemetery in Rosalia. Schanzenbach Funeral Home in Rosalia is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Dale died Monday. Born in Spokane, she moved to Rosalia in 1953.

With her husband, Ed Dale, she owned and operated a lumber yard in the Rosalia area for many years.

Survivors include her husband, Ed Dale; three sons, Mike Dale of Thornton, Wash., and Larry Dale and Wayne Dale, both of Rosalia; two sisters, Velma Rasmussen of Spangle and Helen Kuttler of Spokane; and six grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Rosalia Ambulance Fund or the Rosalia Fire Department.

John Kirk Spokane

Funeral Mass for John C. Kirk, 86, is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Charles Catholic Church followed by burial at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Kirk died Monday. He was born to pioneer Sprague farmers and attended Sprague High School.

He joined his father in wheat farming and continued to farm in Sprague until 1973, when he retired in Spokane.

Mr. Kirk was a former member of the Sprague Grange and was a member of St. Charles Parish.

Survivors include his wife, Veryl Kirk; a daughter, Joan Fries of Harrington, Wash.; two sisters, Mildred Mesenbourg and Louise Beyer, both of Spokane; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Margaret Rademacher Spokane

Vigil service for Margaret F. Rademacher, 87, will be at 7 p.m. today at St. Mary Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at the Church followed by burial at St. Joseph Cemetery. HennesseySmith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Rademacher died Friday. Born in Spokane, she attended high school in Montana and graduated from St. Patrick’s School of Nursing.

She returned to Spokane and worked as a private duty nurse. She later worked for the Spokane County Public Health Department. She retired in 1972.

Her husband of 63 years, Cletus Rademacher, died in 1993. Survivors include two daughters, Joan Guell of Liberty Lake and Sue PendletonGreany of Spokane; a son, John Rademacher of Anchorage, Alaska; a sister, Mildred Myette of Spokane; nine grandchildren and nine greatgrandchildren.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Spokane.

Vernita Potter Coeur d’Alene

Rosary for Vernita M. Potter, 55, will be said at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Worley (Idaho) Community Center. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at the Worley Community Center followed by burial at the Coeur d’Alene Tribal Cemetery in DeSmet, Idaho. Yates-Hodge Funeral Home in St. Maries is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Potter died Tuesday. She was born in Plummer, Idaho, and attended school in DeSmet.

She married Lewis Potter in the 1970s, and they later moved to Iowa. Mr. Potter died in 1984, and she returned to Plummer.

She was a member of the Sacred Heart Mission Catholic Church and the Coeur d’Alene Tribe.

Survivors include a son, William Purcell Jr. of Plummer; a daughter, Rose Gonzales of DeSmet; two brothers, Alex Matt Jr. and Wendell Matt, both of Worley; four sisters, Wanda Matt and Iona Reeves, both of Plummer, Audrey Barrientos of Los Angeles and Donna Matt of Worley; and four grandchildren.

Tawnie Lee Spokane

Memorial service for Tawnie R. Lee, 5, is planned for 7 p.m. today at Valley Fourth Memorial Church. Burial was previously held at the Peone Cemetery. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home South is in charge of arrangements.

Tawnie died Tuesday as a result of Tay-Sachs disease. She was born in Spokane and received home therapy from the Spokane Guilds’ School.

She loved music, lights and her sisters.

Survivors include her parents, George and Susanne Lee; two sisters, Tiffani and Tristan, at the home; and her grandparents.

Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to the Spokane Guilds’ School, the Candlelighters, or the Wishing Star Foundation.

Ethel Colvin Tekoa, Wash.

Memorial service for Ethel F. Colvin is planned for 10 a.m. Friday at Tekoa Care Center. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Colvin, who died Tuesday, was born and raised in Oklahoma Territory.

She married Dick Colvin in 1937, and they moved to Washington in 1938.

Mrs. Colvin was a homemaker and was active in the Adventist Church.

They moved to Tekoa 18 years ago.

Survivors include her husband of 57 years; three sons, Wallace Scott of California, Bill Colvin of Spokane and James Colvin of Portland; a brother, Gene Atkinson of Delhart, Texas; a sister, Cecil Smith of Dumas, Texas; nine grandchildren and eight greatgrandchildren.

Fred Fiddler Spokane

Memorial service for Fred “Freddie” Fiddler, 75, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Messiah Lutheran Church. Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Fiddler died Sunday. He was born in Cascade, Mont., and was a journeyman painter.

Mr. Fiddler was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and Painters Union Local 269. He coached Little League and was active in the Boy Scouts.

Survivors include his wife, Laura Fiddler; two sons, Jerry Fiddler of Spokane and Roger Fiddler of Placerville, Calif.; a daughter, Rita Galvin of Mountain View, Calif.; a twin sister, Mabel Rivera of Anaconda, Mont.; two brothers, Bill Fiddler of San Jose, Calif., and R. Louis Fiddler of Garrison, Mont.; and five grandchildren.

Lona Farnam Kettle Falls, Wash.

Service for Lona Mae Farnam, 77, will be at 1 p.m. Friday Hazen & Jaeger Valley Funeral Home followed by burial at Fairmont Memorial Park.

Mrs. Farnam died Saturday. Born in Spokane, she also lived in Orient, Ione and Deep Lake, Wash. She had recently moved to Kettle Falls.

Her husband, Cleon “Click” Farnam, died in 1970. Survivors include two daughters, Cleona Porter and Carol Bussard, both of Spokane; three sons, Don Farnam and Rich Farnam, both of Kettle Falls, and Chuck Farnam of Colville, Wash; a brother, Leonard Taylor of Bellingham, Wash.; 14 grandchildren and 22 greatgrandchildren.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Ora Mae Hickman Tekoa, Wash.

Memorial service for Ora Mae Hickman, 88, will be at a later date. Cremation was held and the ashes will be buried at the Worley (Idaho) Cemetery. Kramer Funeral Home in Tekoa is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Hickman, who died Friday, was born in Hartville, Mo.

In 1936 she and her husband, Samuel Clyde Hickman, moved to Worley, where they farmed for many years. Mr. Hickman died in 1971.

She moved to the Tekoa Care Center six years ago.

Mrs. Hickman was a member of the Worley Grange, the Worley Homemakers Club and the Senior Citizens clubs in Worley and Plummer, Idaho. She also attended the Worley Community Church.

Survivors include a son, Keith Hickman of Gulfport, Fla.; a daughter, Kay Anderson of Wasilla, Alaska; two brothers, Dan Truster and Willy Truster, both of Missouri; a sister, Goldie Carney of Springfield, Mo.; eight grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren.

Memorial gifts may be given to Hospice of North Idaho.

Stanley Faubion Spokane

No service is planned for Stanley E. Faubion, 70, at his request.

Ball and Dodd Funeral Home South is in charge of cremation and arrangements.

Mr. Faubion, a lifetime Spokane area resident, died Saturday.

He graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in 1942 and received his master’s degree from Eastern Washington University.

Mr. Faubion was an art teacher at Lewis and Clark High School for 20 years, retiring in the late 1970s.

He was a member of the Weaver’s Guild and he also built and repair clocks.

Survivors include a sister, Patricia Faubion of Spokane; a brother, Dwain Faubion of Vancouver, Wash.; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to KSPS or to Union Gospel Mission.

Jack Philleo Cheney

No memorial service is planned for Jack K. Philleo, 74, at his request. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Philleo, a lifetime Cheney resident, died Monday. He served in the Army during World War II and was principal of Cheney Junior High School until his retirement in 1981.

He served as president of the Washington Association of Secondary School Principals and was past master of the Masonic Lodge in Cheney.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Helen Philleo; two daughters, Jackie Randall of Cheney and Renee DeBuigne of Kennewick; a sister, Phyllis McGourin of Spangle; several nieces and nephews, and five grandsons.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Fay Hoagland Pend Oreille County

No public service is planned for Fay Hope Hoagland, 71, at her request.

Sherman and Knapp Funeral Home of Newport, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Hoagland, who died Jan. 2, was born in Velva, N.D., where she graduated from high school in 1933.

In 1937 she married Raymond Schlecht and in 1940 they moved to the Spokane area.

Mrs. Hoagland worked as a rural mail carrier for the Postal Service in Spokane for 13 years.

Mr. Schlecht died in 1983.

Survivors include three sons, Robert Schlecht of Spokane, Larry Schlecht of LaCenter, Wash., and Terry Schlecht of Arizona; two daughters, LaRae Marking of Kennewick and Phyllis Baldwin of Toledo, Wash.; 10 grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren.
