Osborne Honored Again

Tom Osborne added another honor to Nebraska’s national championship season when he was named 1994 NCAA Division I-A coach of the year at the American Football Coaches Association convention.

The AFCA award, presented by Schooner’s International of Waco, Texas, was the first in Osborne’s 22 seasons as coach at Nebraska, which captured its first national title after beating Miami 24-17 in the Orange Bowl.

Rich Brooks of Oregon and Boise State’s Pokey Allen were recognized as regional winner for Region 5 of the NCAA’s Division 1-A and 1-AA, respectively.

Jerry Yeagley of Indiana was voted the top NCAA Division I men’s coach and Chris Petrucelli of Notre Dame was selected the top women’s coach by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
