Philippe Kahn Quits As Borland’s Ceo

Compiled From Wire Services

Philippe Kahn, the man who founded software company Borland International Inc. and has been widely blamed for much of its recent financial trouble, resigned Wednesday as president and chief executive.

Kahn, who remains Borland’s chairman, was replaced as president by Chief Financial Officer Gary Wetsel, who joined the company last fall.

“It has become clear that my continuing as president and CEO has become a distraction at a time when Borland needs to be fully focused on the challenges ahead of it,” Kahn said in a written statement.

Borland, founded in 1983, was once a robust player in the personal computer software market, but has been hurt by increasing competition, price cuts, and product delays.
