‘Seinfeld’ No. 1 For Week

NBC sitcom “Seinfeld” topped the Nielsen ratings last week with a 23.2 rating/33 share.

A rating point equals 954,000 television households. A share is a percentage of the TV sets in use during a time period.

The NBC doctor drama “ER” sewed up second place. ABC sitcoms “Grace Under Fire” and “Home Improvement” placed third and fourth, respectively. New NBC sitcoms “Friends” and “Madman of the People” tied for fifth place. Seventh place was also a tie, between sitcoms “Mad About You” on NBC, “Roseanne” on ABC and the CBS newsmagazine “60 Minutes.” The CBS mystery series “Murder, She Wrote” rounded out the top 10.

ABC had the highest average primetime ratings for the week, followed by NBC, CBS and Fox.
