‘Ticketless’ Travel Begins
Southwest Airlines Co. says it will offer “ticketless” travel throughout its system from the end of the month, becoming the first major carrier to do so everywhere it flies.
The paper-free system will help the airline reduce administrative expenses from the processing tickets, said Charles Zug, Southwest’s director of marketing and business development.
However, he declined to predict how much the system could save, partially because Southwest doesn’t know how many passengers will go ticketless.
Several other big airlines such as United and Delta are testing ticketless systems on some routes.
