Bridal Festival This Weekend

During the holidays, I attended a wedding in Alaska. The bride had planned the whole event while attending the Bridal Festival in Spokane last year.

That probably sounds like an advertisement, but it’s a true story.

This year’s Bridal Festival - the 14th annual - will be held Saturday and Sunday at Cavanaugh’s Inn at the Park.

In keeping with previous festivals, the convention is designed to help prospective brides plan the big day.

More than 100 exhibitors and demonstrators will be on hand to offer advice and ideas, from the right cake to the ultimate honeymoon getaway. Among the ehibitors are Bridal Collections, Hamer’s, Mr. Tux, Sheer Madness, Candy O’Brian’s Boutique and The Resort Collection.

The two-day event also features a host of fashion shows; Saturday, they run at 11 a.m. and 2 and 4 p.m. Sunday they’re at noon and 2 p.m.

Saturday, brides and moms can also attend a 9 a.m. champagne breakfast at Cavanaugh’s Windows of the Seasons Restaurant. At the breakfast, Candy O’Brian’s Boutique will hold a mother-of-the-bride fashion show.

Saturday there’s also a luncheon and fashion show.

Tickets to either the breakfast or luncheon are $20; seats are limited, call G&B to make reservations. Ticket price includes admission to the Bridal Festival.

There will also be prizes given throughout the weekend. These include a free honeymoon trip to Hawaii and a complete wedding package.

Bridal Festival hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $5.
