Florida Serial Killer Claims Sixth Victim

Associated Press

A woman found facedown Thursday beside a lamppost in a neighborhood of neat homes and lawns was the sixth victim of a serial killer preying on prostitutes, police said.

The body was dumped in the welllighted neighborhood just off the Tamiami Trail, a highway connecting Tampa and Miami, in the same general area as the five previous victims, all of whom have been slain since mid-September.

The earlier victims were prostitutes who either were asphyxiated or strangled by the killer, dubbed the “Tamiami Trail Strangler.”
