Andrew Zaborski Hayden Lake, Idaho
Memorial service for Andrew A. Zaborski, 57, is scheduled for 11 a.m. today at the Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene.
Mr. Zaborski died Monday. He was born in Wisconsin and was raised in Cudahy, Wis., where he graduated from high school.
He joined the Army and served as a translator/interpreter in Korea. He was discharged in 1958 and returned to Cudahy where he attended the University of Wisconsin.
Mr. Zaborski began working in Dubuque, Iowa, in 1962 for the John Deere Corp.
He moved to Hayden Lake in 1974 and worked as a supervisor for Hern Iron Works.
Mr. Zaborski started his own Home Improvement Co. in 1977 and operated it until retiring in 1993.
He married Nancy Kay in 1960.
Mr. Zaborski was a life member of the National Rifle Association.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Andrew Zaborski of Coeur d’Alene, Stephen Zaborski of Post Falls and Mark Zaborski of Boise; three daughters, Valerie Zaborski of Highland Park, N.J., Janet Zaborski and Karen Zaborski, both of Hayden Lake; three brothers, Thomas Zaborski of Oshkosh, Wis., Richard Zaborski of Winter, Wis., and Steven Zaborski of Cudahy; a sister, Annie Zaborski of Colgate, Wis.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sarah Scott Shoshone County
No service is planned for Sarah Jane Scott, 85, at her request. McAulay & Wallace Mortuary of Yorba Linda, Calif., was in charge of cremation and arrangements.
Mrs. Scott, who died Sunday, was born in Leadville, Colo.
She married Marion F. “Scotty” Scott in 1925 and they moved to Idaho in the 1930s.
Mrs. Scott worked at the West Shoshone General Hospital and the Shoshone Living Center.
She moved to Kellogg after her husband’s retirement. He died in 1984.
Survivors include three sons, Charles Scott of Kalispell, Mont., Robert Scott of Lakeside, Mont., and Van Scott of Enaville, Idaho; two daughters, Bonnie Seawell of Regina, Saskatchewan, and Mary Jane Watt of Yorba Linda; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and four nieces.
Memorials may be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Crippled Children.
Orville Newton Colville, Wash.
Graveside service for Orville A. Newton, 85, is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at the Mountain View Park Cemetery in Colville. Danekas Funeral Chapel in Colville is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Newton, a lifetime Colville area resident, died Monday.
He operated a dairy and beef farm west of Colville. He also was a school bus driver, worked during the construction of Grand Coulee Dam and occasionally worked at local lumber mills. He retired in 1975.
Mr. Newton was a member of the Addy Grange.
His wife, Myrtle McKenzie, died in 1981. Survivors include a son, Ed Newton of Spokane; a daughter, JoAnne Thompson-Deoneseus of Seattle; three sisters, Esther Goff of Colville, Peg Robinson of Boise and Ethel Garrett of Sacramento; 10 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Crippled Children.
Robert Collis Spokane
Memorial service for Robert F. Collis, 63, a Korean War Navy veteran, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Andrews Episcopal Church. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Seattle, he graduated from North Central High School.
He graduated from business school in Seattle in 1954 and worked for Standard Oil Co., Old National Bank and Blackline Asphalt Co.
In 1970 he started Inland Computer Center. In 1985, with his partners, he started Western Hearing Association.
Mr. Collis was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church and was a volunteer coach in youth sports.
Survivors include his wife of four years, Virginia Collis, at the home; a daughter, Cindie Wilke; three sons, Scott Collis of Elk, Craig Collis of Spokane and Stuart Collis of Seattle; his ex-wife, Juleen Irwin of Santa Paula, Calif.; three stepdaughters, Patricia Wilhite of Spokane, Diane Huffman of Seattle and Colleen Clipsham of Naperville, Ill.; a stepson, Bryan Dore of Spokane; a sister, Carol Kersch of Seattle; three grandchildren and three stepgrandchildren.

Howard Esvelt Colville, Wash.
Service for Howard A. Esvelt, 83, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Colville United Methodist Church followed by cremation. Danekas Funeral Chapel in Colville is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Esvelt died Monday. Born in Spokane, he moved with his family to Daisy, Wash., in 1919.
In 1938 he married Clara Beck and they farmed in Daisy for 35 years. In 1972 the Esvelts retired and moved to Colville.
Mr. Esvelt was a past chairman of the Washington State Dairy Commission, a former member of the board of directors of the American Dairy Association, and was a past chairman and member of the board of directors for the Inland Empire Milk Producers.
Survivors include his wife; six sons, Fred Esvelt, Chris Esvelt and Dr. Robert Esvelt, all of Rice, Wash., Dr. Jack Esvelt of Colville, Richard Esvelt of Bainbridge Island, Wash., and Dr. Larry Esvelt of Spokane; a brother, Dr. Fred Esvelt of Kennewick; and 15 grandchildren.

Robert (Millick) Michelic Spokane
Memorial service for Robert E. (Millick) Michelic, 63, is planned for 3 p.m. Sunday at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. There will be a private inurnment.
Mr. Michelic died Sunday. Born in Pittsburgh, Pa., he moved to Spokane 40 years ago.
He served in the Air Force during the Korean War and was stationed at Fairchild Air Force Base.
Mr. Michelic was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include three sons, Randy Millick, Michael Millick and Paul Millick, all of Spokane; three brothers, Kenneth Millick, George Millick and Don Millick, all of Pittsburgh; two sisters, Eleanor Polito and Dolores Kulikowski, both of Pittsburgh; a close friend, Ruth Fulford of Spokane; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A. Kay Van Sickle McGuinness Coeur d’Alene
Service for A. Kay Van Sickle McGuinness, 51, is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday at Wilbur (Wash.) Lutheran Church. Burial will in Orange, Calif. Strate Funeral Home in Wilbur is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. McGuinness died Saturday from injuries suffered in an automobile accident.
She was born in Spokane and graduated from Creston High School. She graduated from the University of Washington and worked for Combined Insurance Co. She later moved to Coeur d’Alene.
Mrs. McGuinness was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Spokane and was active in Lutheran Social Ministries.
He husband, Harold McGuinness, died in 1982.
Survivors include a son, Shawn McGuinness of Placentia, Calif.; two daughters, Kathleen McGuinness of Los Angeles and Colleen McGuinness of Coeur d’Alene; her mother, Alice Van Sickle of Creston; a sister, Nancy Todd of Ventura, Calif.; and one grandchild.
Memorials may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church in Coeur d’Alene.
Heather Massengale Grooms Spokane
Service for Heather Massengale Grooms, 22, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Trent Elementary School followed by burial at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home North is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Grooms, a lifetime Spokane resident, died Saturday from injuries suffered in a car accident.
She graduated from Ferris High School and attended Spokane Community College. She worked for Medical Service Corp. as a claims processor.
She was a member of Harvest Christian Fellowship.
Survivors include her husband of two years, Galen Grooms; her parents, Kit and Cindy Massengale of Newman Lake; a sister, Suzanne Massengale of Newman Lake; and her grandparents.
Shirle Misterek Post Falls
Memorial service for Shirle L. Misterek, 69, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls.
Mrs. Misterek, who died Wednesday, was born in Creston, Wash. In 1936 she moved to Pasco and in 1950 to Post Falls. She married Norman “Bud” Misterek that same year.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Vetner Misterek of Goldendale, Wash.; two daughters, Terry Zentner of Bellevue, Wash., and Dena Cornell; a brother, Mike Bigham of Sioux Falls, S.D.; and two sisters, Mona Chapman and Marianna Bigham, both of Pasco.
Marie Day Spokane
Memorial service for Marie Day, 77, is planned for 11 a.m. today at Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax, Wash. Cremation was held earlier.
Mrs. Day died Tuesday. She was born in Diamond, Wash., to pioneer parents, Frank and Edna Dennis Day. She was raised in the Diamond-Colfax area and attended school in Diamond.
She moved to the Spokane area 40 years ago and was a member of the Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sisters, Pauline Bafus of Colfax and Frankie Conner of Spokane; three nephews and one niece.
The family suggests memorials be gifts to the American Cancer Society or to Hospice of Spokane.
Alfred Cosner Spokane
Service for Alfred J. Cosner, 82, was Thursday at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. A private burial was at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Mr. Cosner, who died Wednesday, was born in Addy, Wash., and moved to Spokane 52 years ago.
He worked as a mechanic for an aluminum company.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Joyce M. Cosner; a son, James Cosner of Spokane; four stepchildren, Ron Bakken of Spokane, Dan Bakken of Kettle Falls, Wash., Cheryl Holmes of Electric City, Wash., and Carol Bakken of Redmond, Wash.; three grandchildren, eight stepgrandchildren and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
Rev. Robin Hauser Colbert
Memorial service for the Rev. Robin Hauser, 98, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Colbert Chapel, E4922 Bernhill Road. A private burial will be held. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Rev. Hauser, who died Sunday, was born in New Castle, Ind. He began his preaching ministries in 1917 and retired in 1962 in North Dakota. He pastored for one more year in Priest River, Idaho, then fully retired in 1963 and moved to Colbert.
Rev. Hauser was a member of the Colbert Chapel.
His wife of 56 years, Lillyan Frith, died in 1980. Survivors include a son, Rev. Roland Hauser of Canby, Ore.; two daughters, Josephine Dean and Fern Farrell, both of Colbert; three sisters; one brother; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Memorial gifts may be given to the Memorial Fund at Colbert Chapel.
Alvena McCune Spokane
Service for Alvena Elizabeth McCune, 91, is planned for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Danekas Funeral Home in Ritzville, Wash., followed by burial at the Ritzville Memorial Cemetery.
Mrs. McCune, who died Tuesday, was born in Bickelton, Wash. She moved with her family to Ritzville in 1916.
In 1928 she married Thomas A. McCune and in 1931 they moved to California. In 1969 she retired and returned to Ritzville and in 1991 she moved to a care facility in Spokane.
Survivors include two daughters, Darlene Guesman of Tacoma and Irma Crouse of Washtucna, Wash.; three brothers, Frank Schafer of Moses Lake, Vernon Schafer of Washtucna and Pete Schafer of Spokane; a sister, Elmina Tate of Moses Lake; eight grandchildren and 11 greatgrandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation.
Carolyn Smith Liberty Lake
No service is planned for Carolyn Rosella Smith, 80, at her request. A memorial service will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Covenant United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Smith, who died Dec. 29, was born in Pennsylvania and raised in New Jersey.
She married Joseph E. Smith in 1939 and they moved to Massachusetts in 1948. They moved to Liberty Lake in 1983.
Mrs. Smith was a member of Liberty Lake Community Church, the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Order of Eastern Star.
Mr. Smith died in 1988.
Survivors include two sons, Duncan Smith and Roger Smith, both of Spokane; a sister in Florida; six grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren.
The family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society or to the American Heart Association.
