Pickup Skids On Ice; Man Listed As Critical

From Staff And Wire Reports

A 22-year-old Sagle, Idaho, man was listed in critical condition Friday after his pickup truck slipped on ice and flew through the air.

Steven C. George was driving east on Highway 200 near Hope, Idaho, at about 7:30 a.m. when he passed another vehicle and lost control on a patch of black ice, according to Idaho State Police.

The truck went into a ditch and then flew 35 feet over an embankment, coming to rest against a tree stump, according to an ISP report.

George was not wearing a seat belt and suffered serious head injuries, ISP officials said. He was flown by helicopter to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane.
