Robbers Stab Victim, Then Steal Cash

A Spokane man was stabbed in the back during a robbery Thursday, police said.

The 38-year-old victim went to a store at Ninth Avenue and Hatch about 12:30 p.m. He told police he noticed a man on a bicycle watching him through the window as he paid for some merchandise. The victim put some cash in his shirt pocket and left the store, police said.

He was stopped outside by three men. One showed him a hunting knife with a five-inch blade. He told police the robber shoved the knife into his back and grabbed the money from his shirt pocket.

The three men ran from the scene and the victim was treated and released at an area hospital for a stab wound. Police did not specify the hospital.

The robbers were described as three black men in their late teens or early 20s. The man carrying the knife was 5 feet 9 inches tall, about 175 pounds and wore a blue bandanna, black knee-length coat and black jeans.
