Krone’s Injuries Minimal

Compiled From Wire Services

Jockey Julie Krone underwent surgery in Hollywood, Fla., to insert a pin into her left pinky finger, which was broken Friday at Gulfstream Park in her second major spill in 17 months.

Krone’s injuries were not nearly as serious as originally believed. Tests showed Krone had a hairline fracture and some ligament damage in her left hand, and not the multiple fractures in her hand and wrist that had been feared.

Wekiva Springs overtook Dramatic Gold midway through the stretch and went on to win the $216,800 San Fernando Stakes at Santa Anita in Arcadia, Calif.
