Police Interview Seahawks’ Frier

Associated Press

Kirkland police have interviewed the Seattle Seahawks’ Mike Frier in his hospital bed for the first time since a car accident left him paralyzed.

But the investigation into who was driving when Lamar Smith’s car smashed into a telephone pole on Dec. 1 could continue for weeks, said Kirkland Police Detective Jim O’Toole.

Police were still waiting for lab test results from the state crime lab.

The car carrying Frier, Smith and Chris Warren, hit a median strip in Kirkland before crashing into a pole.

Police arrested Warren that night for investigation of vehicular assault, but Smith said the next day he was driving.

Frier’s attorney, Richard Bardi of Boston, said Frier also indicated Smith was driving.

Bardi said Frier gave police details during an interview Friday.
