Bernice Shepard Spokane

Service for Bernice M. Shepard, 87, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home South. Private burial will be at Spokane Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Shepard, a lifetime Spokane resident, died Thursday. She was the daughter of pioneer parents, Joseph and Martha Green.

She graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in 1925 and attended Kinman Business University.

Mrs. Shepard worked in the accounting department at Eastern Washington University before retiring in 1976. She also worked at the Federal Land Bank as a bookkeeper.

Mrs. Shepard was a member of the Four Lakes Grange and St. Luke’s Lutheran Church.

Her husband, Chester Shepard, died in 1964.

Survivors include two sons, Richard Shepard of Deer Lake and Charles Shepard of Spokane; a daughter, Jeannine Henderson of Millwood; a sister, Juanita Gano of Spokane; nine grandchildren, 25 greatgrandchildren and seven great-greatgrandchildren.

Inez Bloom Kootenai, Idaho

Service for Inez Ella Bloom, 83, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Coffelt Funeral Home in Sandpoint followed by burial at Pinecrest Memorial Park.

Mrs. Bloom, who died Thursday, was born in the Northwest and moved to Kootenai in 1942.

She was a member of the Clark Fork Seventh-day Adventist Church and was a past president of the Kootenai P.T.A.

Survivors include eight children, Gloriane “Ann” Hamann, Richard “Dick” Bloom and Terry Bloom, all of Kootenai, Janice “Jan” Wilson of Wallace, Ralph Bloom and Tamara “Tami” Bloom, both of Sandpoint, Colin “Coke” Bloom of Ritzville, Wash., and Sandra Ellingson of Spokane; two sisters, Eileen Gosney of Yucaipa, Calif., and Dorothy Anderson of Spokane; 24 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Loren Kondo Spokane

Service for Loren S. Kondo, 43, is scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at Highland Park United Methodist Church followed by burial at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

Ball and Dodd Funeral Home South is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Kondo, who died Wednesday, was born in Wapato, Wash. He graduated from Wapato High School in 1969 and moved to Spokane that same year.

He graduated from Eastern Washington University in 1973 with a bachelor’s degree in sociology.

He attended one year of postgraduate study in art in 1974.

Mr. Kondo began working for the City of Spokane as a city planner in 1975 and was working there at the time of his death.

He was a member of Highland Park United Methodist Church, the Spokane Human Rights Committee and was president of Spokane JACL.

Survivors include his wife, Christy Kondo; two daughters, Justine Kondo and Lilia Kondo, both at the home; his parents, Shizuo and Janice Kondo of Portland; two sisters, Aileen Bergh of Vancouver, Wash., and Joy Dawson of Caracas, Venezuela; and two grandchildren.
