Robert Jones Coeur d’Alene
Memorial service for Robert Howard Ellis Jones, 81, is planned for 11 a.m. Friday at the First Presbyterian Church in Coeur d’Alene. Yates Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Jones, who died Monday, was born in Coeur d’Alene and graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School.
He attended Washington State University and received a masters degree from Eastern Washington University.
Mr. Jones served in the Navy for four years and was principal at Oakesdale High School.
He moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1951 and was a teacher and administrator at Coeur d’Alene High School, Borah Elementary and Coeur d’Alene Junior High. He retired in 1976.
Mr. Jones was on the board of the Coeur d’Alene Teachers Association and was a lifeguard at the Coeur d’Alene beach. He was also a Mason at the Oakesdale Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Frances Marie Jones; a daughter, Candice Jones of Montgomery, Ala.; and two grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Annie Ortiz Coeur d’Alene
Rosary will be said for Annie Ortiz, 83, at 7 p.m. Friday at the English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Coeur d’Alene followed by burial at St. Thomas Cemetery.
Mrs. Ortiz died Monday. Born in Tucumcari, N.M., she moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1954 from Rock Springs, Wyo.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church.
She married Tony Ortiz in 1932. He died in 1989.
Survivors include two sons, Joe Ortiz of Las Vegas, N.V., and Anthony Ortiz of Coeur d’Alene; five daughters, Anna Murphy of Husum, Wash., Ida Weaser of Kellogg, Eilleen Sink of Wallace, Virginia Shriner of Coeur d’Alene and Loretta Snyder of Marysville, Wash.; two sisters, Theresa Chacon of Santa Fe Springs, Calif., and Celia Chavez of Tucumcari, Mexico; two brothers, Eloy Martinez and Pete Martinez, both of Tucumcari; 20 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Melvin Durheim Spokane
Service for Melvin L. Durheim, 75, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home followed by burial at Spokane Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Durheim, a World War II Army veteran, died Sunday. Born in Kincaid, Saskatchewan, he moved to Spokane 55 years ago.
He was a member of a labor union and the Opportunity Seniors.
Survivors include a daughter, Janet Davey of Spokane; a son, Doug Durheim of Spokane; three brothers, David Durheim, Leonard Durheim and William Durheim, all of Spokane; six sisters, Verna Delzer of Garfield, Wash., Betty Nash, Linda McCutcheon and Laurie Jacobs, all of Seattle, Etha Cyckowski of Anchorage, Alaska, and Agnes Schuch of Rupert, Idaho; and two grandsons.

Minerva Larsen St. Maries
Service for Minerva Larsen, 79, was Tuesday at the Yates-Hodge Funeral Home in St. Maries and was followed by burial at the Woodlawn Cemetery in St. Maries.
Mrs. Larsen died Friday. She was born in Santa, Idaho, and attended school in St. Maries.
She married George Derry in 1934 and they lived in Sanders, Emida, and Santa, Idaho, before moving to St. Maries in 1952.
They bought Red’s Coney Island, which is now Don and Minerva’s Bar and Grill.
Mr. Derry died in 1975.
She married Don Larsen in 1978 and they continued to make their home in St. Maries and operate the bar and grill.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Earl Derry of St. Maries, Harold Derry of Elgin, Ore., and Lawrence Derry of Fernwood, Idaho; two daughters, Dolores Reynolds of Princeton, Idaho, and Virginia “Tiny” Sines of Harrison, Idaho; a brother, Edgar Younkin of Stockton, Calif.; 18 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Jim Davis Pullman
Rosary will be said for Jim D. Davis, 75, at 7 p.m. today at St. Gall Catholic Church in Colton, Wash. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at the church followed by burial at the St. Gall Cemetery.
Kimball Funeral Home in Pullman is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Davis died Monday of pneumonia.
Born in Pullman, he graduated from Johnson High School in 1939.
He joined the Washington National Guard, Company E of the 161st Infantry, and served in the South Pacific in the 1940s.
Mr. Davis was honorably discharged in 1944. He returned to Colton and farmed the family farm.
He married Lillian Mayer in 1951, and they made their home on the farm near Pullman. He was still farming at his death.
Mr. Davis was past director of the Pullman Grange Supply, Johnson Union Warehouse, Whitman County Growers, and the Johnson Grange. He was also a member of the Whitman County Pomona Grange, the Washington State Grange, and the National Grange.
He was a 47-year member of American Legion Post 128 in Colton and was past president of Guardian Angel-St. Boniface Home and School Association. He also attended St. Gall Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Sylvia Krause of Longview, Wash., Susan Mazzi of Sunnyvale, Calif., and Elizabeth Davis and Cynthia Crane, both of Colton; three sons, James Davis of Pendleton, Ore., Timothy Davis of Belleville, Ill., and Joel Davis of Bremerton; two sisters, Doris Pettichord of Orofino, Idaho, and Faye McBride of Graham, Wash.; and nine grandchildren.
The family suggest memorials to the St. Gall’s Endownment Fund or to the Guardian Angel-St. Boniface Home and School Association.
Dolores ‘Dee’ Maye Lees Kellogg
Memorial service for Dolores “Dee” Maye Lees, 58, is planned for 11 a.m. today at the Kellogg Funeral Chapel. Cremation will precede the service.
Mrs. Lees died Monday.
Born in Bartlesville, Okla., she attended school in Burke, Idaho.
She lived in Shoshone County most of her life.
Mrs. Lees was a volunteer with the Valley Senior Citizens.
She married Everett Lees in 1958. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Steven Lees of Denver; two daughters, Julie Zeller of Post Falls and Lauri Lees of Seattle; her mother, Edna Hyde of Salmon, Idaho; a brother, Mike Shanafelt of Boise; two sisters, Janie Thomas of California and Margaret Taylor of Ellensburg; and five grandchildren.
The family suggest memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.
James Higley Spokane
Service for James M. Higley, 79, was Tuesday at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home and was followed by burial at the Pines Cemetery.
Mr. Higley, a World War II veteran, died Friday. Born in Chelan, Wash., he moved to Spokane 50 years ago.
A Realtor, he founded Higley Realtors in 1968 and operated it until 1973.
Mr. Higley was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church, the Chamber of Commerce and the Washington Association of Realtors. He was past president of the Inland Empire Quarter Horse Association.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Mary Pasquale; two sons, Ted Higley of Spokane and Tony Higley of the Spokane Valley; and three grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Gonzaga University Alumni Association, in care of the Rev. Tony Lehmann, S.J., E502 Boone, Spokane, or to the American Lung Association, N1322 Ash, Spokane.
Rose Johnson Kingston, Idaho
No service is planned for Rose Catherine Johnson, 66, at her request. Cremation was held. Shoshone Funeral Services in Kellogg was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Johnson died Tuesday.
Born in Melville, Mont., she moved to Shoshone County in 1952.
Survivors include her husband, Donald Johnson; her mother, Rose of Victor, Mont.; a twin sister, Eleanor Hurt of Renton, Wash.; a sister, Marie Pederson of Victor; and a brother, Donald Pederson of Victor.

Marguerite Stoeser Spokane
Service for Marguerite Stoeser, 76, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home followed by burial at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Mrs. Stoeser, who died Saturday, was born in Grand Forks, British Columbia. She lived most of her life in the Spokane area and graduated from Rogers High School.
She was involved in the Prairie Riders Club in the 1960s and 1970s.
Her husband, Vincent Stoeser, a retired Spokane police officer, died in 1978. Survivors include a son, Dennis Stoeser of San Diego; a daughter, Carol Stoeser of Los Angeles; a brother, Bruce Chambers of Spokane.; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
Romeo Mauro Spokane
Vigil service for Romeo Albert Mauro, 83, was Sunday at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was celebrated Monday and was followed by burial at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Mr. Mauro died Friday. Born in Priest River, Idaho, he moved to Spokane 53 years ago.
He was a mill worker for Boise Cascade, retiring in 1968.
Mr. Mauro was a member of St. Aloysius Church.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Rose Mauro; a daughter, Shirley Naccarato of Spokane; three sons, Don Mauro of Tiverton, R.I., Dick Mauro of San Diego and Jim Mauro of Springfield, Mo.; a sister, Aurora Carlson; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Dolores Lobdell Veradale
Vigil service for Dolores J. Lobdell, 67, was Sunday at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was celebrated Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church. Private family inurnment was at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Mrs. Lobdell, a lifetime Spokane resident, died Thursday.
She graduated from Marycliff High School and was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the Phoenix Club of St. Mary’s and the Elks Lodge Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Harry R. Lobdell; four sons, Mark Lobdell of Benicia, Calif., Gary T. Lobdell of Camano Island, Wash., Chris Lobdell of Pompano Beach, Fla., and Greg Lobdell of Woodinville, Wash.; a daughter, Linda Mellon of Beaverton, Ore.; two brothers, William Thomas of Spokane and Ken Thomas of Chattaroy; and 11 grandchildren.

Lucille Yongue Moyie Springs, Idaho
Service for Lucille Lorraine Yongue, 75, was Tuesday at the Bonners Ferry (Idaho) Funeral Home and was followed by burial at the Grandview Cemetery.
Mrs. Yongue, who died Friday, was born in Indian Valley, Idaho, and graduated from Payette High School.
She married Travis “Brig” Yongue in 1936 and they made their home in Midvale, Idaho, where she spent several summers as a cook in Brig’s logging camp.
The Yongues moved to the Moyie Springs area in 1956. They spent a couple of years in the Yaak and State Line area before moving into Moyie Springs in 1958.
Mr. Yongue preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, Bill Yongue of Hayden Lake, Idaho, and Dean Yongue of Spokane; three sisters, Gladys Johnson, Georgie Winfree and Maxine Steward, all of Indian Valley; a brother, Karl Steward of Ketchikan, Alaska; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Anne Grambow Spokane
Memorial service for Anne L. Grambow, 65, was Wednesday at Spokane Valley Seventh-day Adventist Church. Ball and Dodd South was in charge of cremation and arrangements.
Mrs. Grambow died Saturday.
Born in Gering, Neb., she moved to Spokane in 1978.
She was a homemaker and attended Spokane Central Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Randall Grambow of Richmond, Va., and Jeffrey Grambow of Veradale; a daughter, Valerie Grambow of Spokane; her mother, Molly Allbery of Spokane; a sister, Bessie Chapman of Spokane; a brother, Harvey Glasgow of San Bernardino, Calif.; and two grandsons.
John Towner Spokane
Graveside service and burial for John C. Towner, 84, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Riverside Memorial Park. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Towner died Sunday.
Born in Protection, Kan., he moved to Spokane in 1951.
He served in the Army during World War II and then was a miner in Colorado and the Silver Valley.
He and his son operated several gasoline businesses throughout Spokane for 35 years.
His wife, Mary Towner, preceded him in death.
Survivors include a son, Carl Towner of Spokane; a daughter, Linda Johnson of Springdale, Wash.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a longtime companion, Velma Platz of Spokane.

Steven George Sagle, Idaho
Service for Steven Charles George, 22, is scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at the Priest River (Idaho) Community Congregational Church followed by burial at the Evergreen Cemetery.
Mr. George died Sunday of injuries suffered in a car accident.
Born in Moscow, Idaho, he moved with his family to Priest River in 1984. He graduated from Priest River Lamanna High School.
He married Shauna Knoke in 1993 and they moved to Sagle in 1994.
Mr. George was a carpenter for Sandpoint Builders.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Steven George and Josh George, both at the home; his father and stepmother, Mel and Wilma George of Priest River; his mother and stepfather, Sherrie and Jack Bringham of Worley, Idaho; three brothers, Melvin George Jr. of Plummer, Idaho, Dennis White of Moscow, and Doc White of Deary, Idaho; and his grandparents.
Bernice Erdman Priest River, Idaho
Service for Bernice N. Erdman, 81, was Tuesday at Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Priest River and was followed by burial at the Evergreen Cemetery in Priest River.
Mrs. Erdman died last Thursday. Born in Big Fork, Minn., she moved to Priest River more than 68 years ago.
She graduated from Priest River High School and attended Lewiston Normal School. She was a substitute schoolteacher and also worked at Eng’s Restaurant in Newport.
She married Lester “Les” Erdman in 1940 and they owned and operated a logging business, the C&C Cafe in Priest River and Les’ Used Cars.
Mrs. Erdman was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and the Priest River Pinochle Club.
Survivors include her husband of more than 54 years; a son, John Erdman; two daughters, Loretta Bombino of Spokane and Leslie Ann Jachetta of Priest River; two brothers, Rodney Larson of Priest Lake, Idaho, and Quentin Larson of Sandpoint; three sisters, Ruby Clark and Edna Gustin, both of Priest River, and Anita McFall of Spokane; and five grandchildren.
Richard Limesand Kingston, Idaho
No service is planned for Richard Franklin Limesand, 69, at his request. Cremation was held. Shoshone Funeral Services & Crematory in Kellogg was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Limesand died Saturday. Born in Valley City, N.D., he moved to Shoshone County many years ago.
He was a development foreman at Asarco’s Coeur Mine for 23 years before retiring in 1989. He also farmed.
Mr. Limesand was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Samaritan No. 29, in Kellogg and the Benewah Cattlemen’s Association.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Sharon Limesand; five sons, Charles Limesand of Toledo, Ore., Alfred Limesand of Newport, Ore., Joseph Limesand and Randy Limesand of Rathdrum, Idaho, and Dale Limesand of Kingston; a daughter, Cheryl Garcia of Rocklin, Calif.; a brother, Lyle Limesand of Kellogg; six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Kenneth Bailey Spokane
Memorial service for Kenneth J. Bailey, 45, was Tuesday at Riplinger Funeral Home. Cremation preceded the service.
Mr. Bailey, a lifetime Spokane resident, died Friday of cancer.
Survivors include his wife, Sheryl Bailey,; a daughter; three stepchildren; a brother, Michael Bailey of Spokane; and a sister, Maureen Bissell of Coeur d’Alene.
